The Myth of Medusa and Athena
In ancient times, a gorgeous woman named Medusa existed. She lived in Athens, Greece where she was the most beautiful girl of all. Sadly, it was on a very rare occasion that she quit admiring herself. Everyday Medusa would brag about her beauty and everyday the brags got bigger and bigger. On Monday, she boasted at the wheat grinder that the surface of her was prettier than the lightest flurries. On Tuesday, Medusa spoke to the shoemaker about her hair shining more than the sun. On Wednesday, Medusa talked to the metalworker's son about her eyes being more green compared to the Aegean Sea. On Thursday, Medusa bragged to everybody at a garden open to everybody about her lips growing more red than extremely red flower.
While Medusa wasn't off distributing what she was thinking about including her beauty, she would look at herself. Medusa would look at herself for sixty minutes at the crack of dawn. She would also look at herself in a piece glass for sixty minutes every night while she was preparing to retire. Medusa would also look at her in a hole of water as she was gathering some for horses, it was common for her to not remember to get the water while watching herself. Medusa would boast to everybody about her gorgeousness, but eventually she went to the Parthenon alongside her buddies. The Parthenon is a building dedicated to Athena. The Parthenon has magnificent statues and artwork. Everybody was amazed and thankful for the great goddess Athena because she pushed people to chase their dreams and look over Athens. Everybody but Medusa.
As soon as Medusa glanced at the statues, she softly said, "I should be that statue, it sure would be prettier." As soon as she glanced at a painting, Medusa thought the same thing. The moment Medusa reached the praying pad Medusa spoke these words, "What a gorgeous building this is. It is so sad that Athena got it because it would be more beautiful if it was based around me." Her buddies skin lightened up each minute. Everybody had heard these words come from Medusa's mouth. People began to talk quietly until everybody was gone, they were afraid that something bad was about to begin.
It didn't take very much time for Medusa to be by herself, she didn't no that she was all alone. Medusa quickly noticed a new figure appearing in her own, Athena. "Stuck-up and unwise woman," said Athena violently, " You assume she is more gorgeous than I? I don't think so, it is not all about gorgeousness Medusa. When people are out doing their jobs and earning an education, you are looking and bragging only about you." Medusa was working hard to prove that her gorgeousness was an encouragement to many people, soon after Athena stopped Medusa from talking. "False," Athena responded, "Gorgeousness tapers within human beings. Beauty won't relax the ill, educate the uneducated, or give the famished a meal. I will use my strengths to take away the gorgeousness you hold. The destiny you have will should be a notice for everybody not to brag."
As soon as these words came out of Athena's mouth, Medusa's head transformed into an ugly creature. Medusa's long silky hair turned into a head of metallic serpents. "Because you have boasted so much, I have done this. If people see you like this, they will be transformed into concrete," spoke Athena, "the same goes for you Medusa." After that chaos was over, the goddess made Medusa and her head of serpents spend the rest of her natural life alongside the gorgons, they are sightless, where nobody with be transformed to concrete (Guenther, 2013).
