Medusa's I am Poem
I am ugly and scary.
I wonder if I will ever be beautiful again.
I hear swords being drawn to decapitate me.
I see the grimaces on people's faces as they look at me.
I want to return to my old life.
I am ugly and scary.
I pretend people don't notice me.
I feel melancholy.
I touch my slimy snakes.
I worry that someone will chop my head off.
I cry at the thought of leaving my sisters behind.
I am ugly and scary.
I understand that people won't dare to look at me.
I say "look at me I dare you."
I dream that I'll stop acting like a monster.
I try to keep my snakes quiet so people won't know I'm near them.
I hope people will crumble at the temptation to look into my eyes.
I am ugly and scary.
